Story: Friendsgiving Thanks!
Happy Thanksgiving 2016!
Many of us are lucky and thankful for, among other things, to have two families… a biological family and a LOGICAL family. Some of us are lucky to have both in the same group of people but for many the place where they have more consistently found unconditional love is within a group of strong friendships. As those who have attended my Thanksgivings over the years know the Thanksgiving holiday is nearly a religious experience for me in regards to the weight I place on it as a way to thank those friends in my life who have been with me through thick and thin.
Today we’ll be spending Thanksgiving with Tom and David. Tom and I were friends in Chicago 20 years ago. Now we and our spouses all find ourselves together in the same city again. The Friendsgiving trend has been the subject of a lot of press lately. Tom & Daivd’s upcoming gathering was mentioned in a New York Post article below.
Of course retailers are hopping on the trend. Alternate taxi service Uber recently partnered with Retailer Ikea to help people pull of their own Friendsgiving.
